My first trip to Ghana

I am in Ghana (waves the Ghana flag). My first expression on touch down was “EM!!! is this remote Lagos?”. One thing I picked up from the place is Organisation and order. The people are orderly, hard working and the little they have been able to put together, they manage. Didn’t really see the wow factor I expected based on the Hypes I got about the country.

First thing I noticed is the people don’t like bargaining. I can’t count the number of times I got the aggressive look and tone when we try to bargain our taxi fare. We did stop at a few places to buy food and may I say great packaging (Taste wasn’t like Nigerian jellof rice.I no taste maggi for the food LMAO!!!).

I did notice the Nigerians here. We visited KNUST and it was just too easy to identify the Nigerian students. From the loud noises they make to the provocative dressing the girls wear (I mean real provocative..eye popping provocative). But hey they be Nigerians naw!!! So its all good. Not bad a place.

Just saddens me to think that in Nigeria we just need some level of discipline and we would be really better off. Hey in a few hours Nigeria will be 51 years old.

Happy Birthday country

How easily we joke in Nigeria

Was sitting around trying to listen to the news when some dude came in making a joke about Boko Haram. And checking on facebook I see same post about the same group. Its all a joke to everyone now. Its so easy for us in Nigeria to turn serious matters into everyday lame joke.

If we continue this way we may never be able to attain sanity in this Country. Lets get serious for once.

Terrorism in Nigeria

Its been a while I posted a write up. I won’t say I have been exactly busy but I haven’t really had a cause to post something. That is not to say a lot hasn’t been happening around me. However my recent motivation to post this article is the frequent bombing happening on a weekly basis in Nigeria. Its really a big shift in the way I use to see life in Nigeria. Everyone is struggling to make a living to begin with but turning to terrorism is something I never thought would happen in Nigeria.

My first surprise is how easy it has become to develop bombs in Nigeria. Somehow this event is a wake up call for the Nigerian security agents. Its really evident that we have been wasting tax payers hard earned money keeping our so called police officers fed and supposedly equipped when all they do is harass citizens on a daily basis. The news channels keep saying the same thing over and over again

We need to have good intelligence gathering

I hear the above quotes ever so often it begins to cause an uncomfortable sensation in my stomach. With the spate of violence all over the country going out each day one needs to say a little prayer to God for mercy and forgiveness. From my own standpoint I have just a few suggestion I think will enable the security forces do their work a little better when it comes to investigation. The following are just a few aspects of this country that hasn’t been fully put in place. To effectively police this great nation, we need to have:

  1. A proper means of national identification (National ID cards)
  2. Educate the police force and overhaul the police system in order to improve its PR.

It is really heart breaking to know that the police force do not have a lead on the ring leaders of Boko Haram. And to make it worst even citizens who may have such information are afraid to give this vital information to the police. The police force in Nigeria have succeeded in branding itself a tyrant. There is no guaranteeing that if you take any vital information to the police that a suitable witness protection program will be offered you. Who then is a Nigerian? With little or no proper means to verify a persons identity, its really difficult to determine who is a Nigerian. There are no proper record systems in place about citizens of this country. So to Nigeria you don’t exist unless you are popular or a politician. Anyone can claim to be a Nigeria.

If our leaders really have a dream for this country I belief they should look at this points and maybe just maybe  we will be heading somewhere.
