Nano-finance, he explains, is one step below what microfinance institutions do. His company extends small loans worth between Sh5 and Sh1,800 to mobile phone users.

Well, this guy is going to make a buttload of cash. What his “nanofinancing” business is doing is extending the western standard of debt-living to the rest of the globe. Sure, people need money. But people also don’t need everything they want. Taking out a nano-loan every time you want a new piece of swag will put that ass in the hole.

For a while now I have been thinking of HTML5. Truth be told am not much of a JavaScript/UI warrior. But I do just enough to achieve the expected result.

Lately I have been considering HTML 5 not just because its new but hey times are changing and everything is moving really quick to the HTML 5 side. I don’t want to wake up someday and realize am still stuck in HTML 4.1.

I do take time out to look around at HTML 5 based projects and lately a lot of wow being thrown my way. The sheer fact you can design a desktop like looking game/app from just HTML and JS is too amazing to ignore. I do hope to visit the HTML 5 alley soon.

The picture above is a rendering of numerous car models designed using HTML 5 and JS. I thought I should share this as its really amazing. Not my project anyways.

The transition from physical to digital media hasn’t been a pretty one for the music industry, but it seems that the hard times might soon be over. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which is a non-profit organization that represents the worldwide recording industry, just announced that music revenues grew in 2012, the first time that’s happened since 1999. While that’s good news for those who make their money from recorded music, it’s a bit early to call this a full turnaround — revenues only grow a tiny 0.3 percent year-over-year.

Video: Next-gen Kinect sensor.

The sensor inside Kinect was created by PrimeSense, who demonstrate the next generation model called Capri in this video.

Capri is 1/10 the size of previous models, and the company says “we have been able to improve on all aspects of the system” in the device, which can be integrated into tablets and smartphones.

Microsoft is actually only one customer using the system, and does not licence it exclusively. Other companies also using the technology include iRobot, Matterport, and Asus.

This will be really interesting..will rely heavily on network infrastructure.
